Rockingham County is a county located in the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of 2016, the population was 91,393. Its county seat is Wentworth.

The county was formed in 1785. It was named for Charles Watson-Wentworth, 2nd Marquess of Rockingham, British Prime Minister from 1765 to 1766 and again in 1782.
